This is a caption

Hey there. If you want to insert an image that has already been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, that's easy- just type [[Image:Example.jpg|thumb|This is a caption]] and it looks as it does on the left. That's the simplest way to do that, and what would be useful in most cases, though there are plenty of things you can fiddle with if you're looking for a particular effect. If that is a free-use image (an image released into the public domain or under a free license) then that's fine; if, however, it is a non-free one (which we may only use under "fair use", a doctrine in US law) then any usage of the image must meet our deliberately extremely strict non-free content guidelines- I advise you avoid using non-free content for the time being.

If the image does not already exist on Wikipedia, then you have to upload it. Go to this page and follow the onscreen instructions- you have to specifically state the source of the image (where did you get it? If you created it, say so) and the license of the image (if you own the copyright, you need to release it under a free license- Creative Commons ShareAlike Attribution 3.0 is best- that will make sense when you see the upload page). If it is not a free image, then, again, you must be aware of the non-free content policies. I'd be happy to help out with non-free content if you feel that it would be a help to the project. All of what I have just said can be found on this page and the pages to which it links- it's a big area, so I've tried to only say what's important. If you want help with a specific case, or have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help- a lot of people struggle with the image policies. J Milburn (talk) 12:57, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Help please.

Hi,

Thank you for the swift response and the help. Unfortunately, I am unauthorised to use the link you sent me, so (Sorry to be a pest) could you perhaps give me the text off the webpage?

Thanks,

MiJ Kendell (talk) 13:06, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have "confirmed" your account, meaning you should not be able to upload files. Probably best to go via Wikipedia:Upload, (rather than directly to Special:Upload, which I linked above) as this will give you a number of options. J Milburn (talk) 13:13, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thanks for the effort you put in. MiJ Kendell (talk) 13:40, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I assume this was for me? The usual ettiquette is to put barnstars on the talk page of the user to whom you are awarding them; this is all stuff you'll learn in time. Good to have you on board. J Milburn (talk) 16:54, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Annie Kate Matthews"

[edit]

A page you created, Annie Kate Matthews, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. MJ94 (talk) 18:10, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ASDF Movie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. MikeWazowski (talk) 20:19, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
