Winter storm naming[edit]

I just wanted to make you aware of this discussion I started at Winter storm naming. I have no intentions of making any changes to the article myself, but was just hoping to get input from editors previously involved in the article (or recently-closed AfD) in an effort to improve the article and clarify its purpose. I will leave any changes to the consensus of other editors who decide what's best. Your participation would be welcome, regardless of your views on the issue. Thank you. 76.189.111.199 (talk) 22:18, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Template:Geologic_time_scale[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to know I made some notes about your updates to this table on its talk page. Basically, I'm worried about where you've got the new dates you've put in the last week. I was 95% certain what we had was the most up-to-date consensus view. If you could let those of us following this page know the attribution and sources on that talk page, I'd be much obliged. Thanks! March 2012[edit]

Hello, I'm 24.218.110.195. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Template:Geologic time scale without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, another user with the same ip address

USGS Colors[edit]

  • Are you aware that this template is transcluded to a number of main space Wikipedia articles, and that your changes are messing up all these articles. Please stop interfering with this template. --Epipelagic (talk) 20:53, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay. But please don't delete the closing </noinclude> tag. Also, the white text should be retained on some of the coloured boxes for accessibilty reasons; some people have trouble reading things unless the contrast is sufficiently high. If you are serious about contributing to Wikipedia, it would be a good idea to do as suggested above, and create your own account. --Epipelagic (talk) 21:41, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Unix time, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. – S. Rich (talk) 18:01, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Re:Template:Period color in spanish Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, 24.218.110.195. In the Wikipedia in spanish we use the ICS & CGMW standard color codes, RGB version. To my knowledge not has been changed in the latest version of the table.

The RGB version we use is for computer screens presentations (main media for Wikipedia). You can find it at Standard Color Codes for the Geological Time Scale (RGB).

For the 2013 edition, I think they just used softer colors from the CMYK version, as standar for print.

If you know and have formal references for a new ICS RGB codes please write me. Best regards, --PePeEfe (talk) 18:45, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Ok, but still I don't found the reference where you take the codes.
Two samples:
phanerozoic=rgb(154,217,221) cretaceous=rgb(127,198,78) RGB ICS standard & spanish Wikipedia (es:Plantilla:Period color)
phanerozoic=rgb(160,216,239) cretaceous=rgb(141,197,96) your editions in the spanish Wikipedia
phanerozoic=rgb(111,218,237) cretaceous=rgb(111,200,107) from Template:Period color, this Wikipedia
Best regards, --PePeEfe (talk) 20:44, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
This user (Alnagov (talk) updated the colors to ICS 2013. He did not provide a source for us. You should ask him for the source. I looked everywhere for ICS 2013 rgb codes but could not find it. All I found was a 2008 CMYK codes 2012 codes and stuff like that. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 21:38 17 April 2013 (UTC) 5:38pm 4/17/2013 EDT.
I deleted the stages, and your complete edition, because you added codes that are not the ICS standards we're using there. I think you are not using the standard colors of the ICS in the English Wikipedia, though they were approaching. I think the standard color codes is stable since 2006, with the sole exception of Gelasian (when passed from Pliocene to Pleistocene).
In Spanish Wikipedia at the moment we are not using the Template:Period color at stage level, but I can add them when necesary. Best regards, --PePeEfe (talk) 18:57, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Wouldn't be better to just correct the codes with the source you use? 24.218.110.195 (talk) 18:55 19 April 2013 (UTC) 2:55pm 4/19/2013 EDT.

Template:Fish graphical timeline[edit]

Please stop edit warring over this template, and explain why you keep using alternate names for the Devonian sub periods which are associated with incorrect colours. And can you also explain why it is that, when I revert your edits to restore the correct colour scheme, you persistently reinstate your flawed version. I have left your flawed version in place for now. Please stop making a nuisance of yourself and either fix the colour used for the associated sub period names that you prefer, or reinstate the correct colours by reinstating the original template. It would also be a good idea if you stop using an IP account, and use a regular account like the rest of us. --Epipelagic (talk) 18:35, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Have you clicked on this yet "Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geology#Graphical Timelines e.g Template:Cenozoic graphical timeline". I placed it on my revert. I noticed that not all of these templates are not all the same layout. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 18:52 19 April 2013 (UTC) 2:52pm 4/19/2013 EDT.
I've no idea what relevance that link has to the matter. Can you explain in English what your issue is, and why you continue to use the wrong colours on the template? --Epipelagic (talk) 20:18, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Well you have made no attempt to correct the colours, so your behaviour is bordering on vandalism. I have reinstated the original version which had the correct colours. Do not edit this template again unless you are prepared to make an effort to represent it correctly. --Epipelagic (talk) 03:29, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Template and table in the spanish Wikipedia's Geologic time scale[edit]

Hi 24.218.110.195, the spanish and english Wikipedias are sisters but diferent proyects, need not be equal. We dont use the es:Plantilla:Escala temporal geológica (Template:Geologic time scale) because its innecesary, its just for one article. Then we prefer edit directly the table in the main article, don't click more times than necesary to reach and edit the data. We edit and update the article directly, without having to go to a template to make changes, its easier for habitual and sporadic editors.

Also, a part of the template is obsolete (names and dates), please don't change the table with the template.

The script detect you deleting a great part of the article, it's considered as vandalism.

Of course you is free and welcome to edit in spanish Wikipedia, but please respect the rules. We use the RGB formal color codes of the International Commission on Stratigraphy, I dont want go behind you changing codes each time you edit there, you know yet our sources (I put the link before), you can use those directly, not invented colors. And remember both proyects are not necesary equals. Best regards, --PePeEfe (talk) 07:30, 21 April 2013 (UTC) P.D. I also copy this comment on your talk page in the spanish Wikipedia. le

Why not move the table from the article into the template. Add the navbox so you can click on E to edit the tab. Like in our templates as in here Template:Geologic time scale. The navbox includes V to view page, T for talk discussion, and E to edit change. Using the navbox would be better just click E and edit it. Here is a navbox shown below my comment. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 12:58 21 April 2013 (UTC) 8:58am 4/21/2013 EDT.
Is another publisher who is reversing your edits (and with which I agree), because you use color coding standards are not listed in the reference yourself bring in my talking page. You can edit them, but please use the codes shown in the reference. Again, what is the formal reference where do you get the codes? Best regards, --PePeEfe (talk) 06:58, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Finally I added the proper standard codes for all the stages, so I hope to finish this mess. --PePeEfe (talk) 08:23, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Your codes are different. Please, read carefully the color codes in the referenced table. i.e. tarantian=rgb(255,242,211) vs. tarantian=rgb(255,241,214) Can you see the difference? your colors codes are different. I dont understand why you say they are the same. What you pretend?. Don't change it again!. --PePeEfe (talk) 21:22, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Please get an account[edit]

Please, could the contributor to geologic articles with this IP address register for a Wikipedia account? That way messages on talk pages can be directed to the correct person. Thanks. --Bejnar (talk) 18:47, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Why don't you join WikiProject Microsoft?

It seems that you have been editing Microsoft related articles, so why don't you consider joining WikiProject Microsoft, not to be confused with WikiProject Microsoft Windows. WikiProject Microsoft is a group of editors who are willing to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Microsoft, its technologies, web properties & its people. This WikiProject is brand new and is welcoming editors to help out. Add your name to the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Microsoft/Participants and/or add the userbox {{Template:User WikiProject Microsoft}}. Thanks! jcc (tea and biscuits) 10:30, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

References[edit]

Please take the time to read the references for the articles you're editing: there is no mention of "Zirconian" that I can find in the sources for zirconian, so I'm reinstating the proposed deletion on grounds that the term has no support in scientific literature. Likewise, the cited paper clearly describes the end of the proposed Chaotian eon as the collision with Theia. Additionally, the language that you've inserted is both casual and speculative. Acroterion (talk) 22:19, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

That would mean that the Chaotian ended about 4.5 to 4.45 billion years ago, because the Theia collision occurred between 4.53 to 4.48 gya. The proposed timetable says the Chaotian ends 4.4 billion years ago. 24.218.110.195 (talk) 03:00 3 August 2013 (UTC) 11:00pm 8/02/2013 EDT.
