[edit]Hey. I know you have been told this before; if you want to merge two articles that have been separate for some time, please initiate a merge discussion. Simply pushing through with your version is not the way to go; finding a consensus is.
Maybe my opinion (that the articles should be separate) is the minority, and a lot of editors agree with your opinion (merging); but i don't know yet, because a discussion hasn't taken place yet. Thats why it's important to open a merge discussion, tag the articles so other people know that the discussion happens, and then we'll see where it goes. - What's the effects of a non-discussed merge? 2406:3003:2004:6A0:9425:10C6:EF50:7D95 (talk) 13:06, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Other editors see the undiscussed merger, and then be like "Hey, that should have been discussed first.", and probably revert/undo and try to engage in a discussion. Depending on how the merger happens, one might run into licensing problems, since the content wasn't written by the merging editor (see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia). This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
