I appreciate that you are following the GR argument about the geodesics. The video additionally states the reason for the light from the region just outside the photon sphere of M87*, which is that material (the accretion disk) that is not within its event horizon is swirling around M87* and heating up, which the radiotelescopes that comprise the Event Horizon Telescope are detecting: it's millimeter wave radiation. So the images are false color images of the accretion disk, basically. The gravitational lensing that you are describing in the good faith contribution is not a material effect compared to the light from the accretion disk. --Ancheta Wis   (talk | contribs) 16:21, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
