Categories and subcategories[edit]

I have reverted your edits to Quiet Riot and am evaluating your other edits. When an article is placed in a subcategory, it should not also be placed in the parent category. Thus, Quiet Riot should not be in Category:Hard rock musical groups, because it is already in Category:American hard rock musical groups, which is a subcategory of Hard rock musical groups. —C.Fred (talk) 00:48, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Filter (band). Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Filter does not appear to be a hard rock group. Please be sure you're not adding categories indiscriminately and inappropriately. —C.Fred (talk) 01:00, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Your edit to System of a Down was also inappropriate, because they are also already listed as an American hard rock musical group. Please slow down and categorize articles more carefully. If you continue placing the hard rock category on articles inappropriately, and you do not explain why you are categorizing the articles that way, the edits may begin to appear disruptive. —C.Fred (talk) 01:06, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
