Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. For one thing, if you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! April 2008[edit]

Information.svg In a recent edit to the page Bombay Sapphire, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. TimTay (talk) 21:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
I notice that you continue to make unnecessary spelling and style changes. Personally, I agree with some of your changes, and strongly disagree with others, but the policy of Wikipedia is to preserve the original spelling unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. Please read the Wikipedia:Manual of Style mentioned by TinTay above, especially respect national varieties of English. You could then spend time improving articles, rather than just tinkering with them. I know that it is tempting to change spellings to the form which you were taught, and the date format with the number first annoys me, too, but it is now normal in many parts of the world, so you are wasting your time in making such changes. When you write your own article, you can use your own preferred style and spelling, and no-one should change it just because they were taught differently! Best wishes. Stop hand nuvola.svg This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, as you did to Archaeoastronomy, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please read WP:ENGVAR and follow it. Your editing pattern appears to be trying to impose one standard on all articles and you have been warned before about this. You will be blocked if you don't stop. dougweller (talk) 06:20, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
