Recent edits[edit]

Hi. I notice your two recent edits. if you are indeed a family member of the person you mention then I'm very sorry for your loss. You raise concerns about the mention of their name in Wikipedia articles. Please be aware it is not Wikipedia that first identified them. Wikipedia content is based on what is covered in reliable secondary sources, and there are numerous such sources in the article on the shooting. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia merely references what others have said.

Your edits imply possible legal action against Wikipedia or individual editors. If that is your intention, please be aware of the following from the policy on legal threats.:

While you may sue in a court of law, Wikipedia is not the place for legal disputes. Posting legal threats on Wikipedia is uncivil and can cause serious problems:
* It severely inhibits free editing of pages, a concept that is absolutely necessary to ensure that Wikipedia remains neutral. Without this freedom, we risk one side of a dispute intimidating the other, thus causing a systemic bias in our articles.
* It creates bad feelings and a lack of trust within the community, damaging our ability to proceed quickly and efficiently with an assumption of mutual good faith.
* The project has had bad experiences with users who have posted legal threats in the past.
Attempting to resolve disputes using the dispute resolution procedures will often lead to a solution without resorting to the law. If the dispute resolution procedures do not resolve your problem, and you then choose to take legal action, you do so in the knowledge that you took all reasonable steps to resolve the situation amicably.

In this instance it is unlikely that any dispute resolution procedure would result in the removal of a large quantity of well-sourced information from these articles. I appreciate your concern given your stated family connection, but if the legal threats continue it is likely this IP address will be blocked from editing. You have the right to pursue legal action, but per the above policy excerpt you should not continue to threaten editors with it along the way.

Hopefully the above information is useful. Happy to discuss further if required. -- Euryalus (talk) 23:04, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

July 2023[edit]

Stop icon Your recent edits to User_talk:AzureCitizen could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:25, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
