Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Footwarrior (talk) 21:48, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Elevation of Denver[edit]

I reverted your elevation change for the Denver article. The official elevation for Denver is 5280 ft., defined by a benchmark on the steps of the State Capital. Elevation data is a bit tricky to find at times. In general, it's a bad idea to use Topozone or other topographic map servers. They get their data from a GNIS query. When used to find a city name, it gives a spot in the city and the elevation of that spot. It's better than nothing, but is probably not the same spot used for the official elevation of a city. --Footwarrior (talk) 22:09, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Template talk:Uw-vaublock/sandbox[edit]

Speedy deletion declined: Russell Burn[edit]

Hello 75.53.218.81. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Russell Burn, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being or having been member of a notable band indicates importance/significance. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Issaquah High School‎[edit]

I tagged your Issaquah High School‎ and Issaquah Middle School‎ IP hopper again at User talk:50.135.101.88‎ but I didn't request a block since my revert was was 14 hours or so after the fact. Meters (talk) 20:22, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

I'd say if there's one more incident, a report should be made. I'm not exactly how long it is before warnings expire, however, if a long-term abuse pattern becomes apparent, then the warnings should not be treated as expired and a block should be issued. Thanks. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 20:25, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
The only reason I didn't request a block immediately was because he hadn't been warned for any of his other reverted vandalisms. He's certainly put more than enough junk in in the last few days. I wouldn't argue if you reported him now, but some admins may decline on the basis of "insufficient warningings". You could always make a case for a 3RR violation since the two IPs made the identical edits. I'll be keeping an eye on these pages for a while since I'm sure they/he will be back. Meters (talk) 20:47, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 20:48, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

My Apologies[edit]

...for falsely reporting you as a vandal at AIV. It was the IP you were reverting I intended to report, not you. Thanks for your help, Jusdafax 09:28, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Understood. We all make mistakes. I'm sure that even if the report was accepted, my contributions would have been reviewed and it would have been corrected, and, even if I was mistakenly blocked, I could always use the appeal feature, which is what that is for. Thanks, and happy editing. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 20:12, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

New proposed Wikipedia page[edit]

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can ask another question on your talk page, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.

Hello. I have proposed the creation of a Wikipedia page here. The list is incomplete. The ultimate goal is for this page to be completed, moved to the Wikipedia space, and then linked to in all Wikipedia history pages in an obvious manner to allow Wikipedia to be newbie-friendlier. When I first came to Wikipedia, I had no idea what statements in edit summaries such as "rvv" meant. Can somebody please provide advice or comment regarding this? Thanks very much in advance. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 18:37, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia!
rvv means "revert vandalism." It's often used, as it's easy to type when a vandal fighter is working fast.
Good luck with your article! I've left a note for the reviewer when your page is ready, please don't be alarmed.~ Matthewrbowker Talk to me 19:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I'm well aware of what rvv stands for and why it's used, however, I am creating this page with the intention to ease the learning process for new users, who have no idea what that stands for. Not to be too critical, however, I do not feel completely sure that the note was necessary, as, in the page title, it is obvious that the page is intended to be moved into the Wikipedia: namespace. I also would like to request for somebody to expand the list. Those were all of the abbreviations which I could come up with so far. Thanks very much in advance. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 19:34, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
You're totally fine. It's a great idea.
I put the note there because almost all of the people who work at articles for creation use an automated script, which strips namespaces. So the namespace would have to be added in manually. Sorry I wasn't clear...
Again, I think this page is a great idea! It'll be a great help, especially for new editors. Drop me a line when you think it's done, and I'd be willing to move it. ~ Matthewrbowker Talk to me 19:42, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. For now, it's as done as I can make it. I'm requesting that some other editor expand it, however. Do you believe that somebody can expand the list? Thanks very much in advance. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 19:44, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry I haven't responded earlier, life's been hectic and I haven't had a chance to search. Anyway, the concept of the page already exists at Wikipedia:Edit summary legend. Feel free to expand this page. I'm sorry about that. ~ Matthewrbowker Talk to me 03:26, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
