April 2021[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you removed marumaru's deadname from the Cherax Destructor article. I was unsure about this myself, and I just checked the Wikipedia guideline (and some user essays) at MOS:DEADNAME and MOS:IDINFO, and from those guidelines, deadnames shouldn't be used if a person wasn't notable before the name change but may be used for clarification purposes if a person was. I'm of two minds with this: on the one hand, reliable sources referred to her by her deadname before her transition, so her old name might be useful for clarification and to make sure people unfamiliar with the new name can find the article. On the other hand, I want to respect her name change, she may not be known enough (like The Wachowskis) to merit the need for the use of her deadname, and she's mostly gone by her stage names anyways. Since you made the change, I was wondering what you think? Sandtalon (talk) 03:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sandtalon Hi, I was this IP user, I forgot to log in. The sources used in this article that referred to her deadname used it inline in posts titled with one of her projects and since none of her music was released directly under her name, I think the "if [...] not notable under a former name (a "deadname"), it should not be included in any page" justifies removing it. I added that detail to the infobox before she publicly transitioned, because the page led with her deadname too and it fit an infobox titled Cherax Destructor. On a side note, do you think this page should be moved to marumaru? I've been waiting for more current sources that use that name to justify it, but the page already relies on her self-published birth date and influences.
