Because socialist state encompasses more than the party. It is a state which has only branch of government (highest organ of state power) which practices the unified power principle. When the SED lost power these governing structures did not suddenly disappear. The DDR did not suddenly start practicing parliamentary democracy and enacted the principle of fusion of power TheUzbek (talk) 13:58, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
