Re: Lionel Rees[edit]

Welcome to the little game of, Just what the heck did he call himself anyway? I myself have struggled with this issue a time or fourteen. My observations:

  • The London Gazette (and some other official texts) often carried a man's name by only his leading initials; apparently, this is a space saver during mass announcements such as New Year's Honors, etc. Flightglobal Archives, which you refer to, reprinted the Gazette announcements verbatim.
  • The London Gazette might also, in some differing issue, carry the same man by his full christened name. But I have never caught it mixing the usage within the same issue. Yet.
  • In my experience, men of the WWI era often used a formal public name and a more relaxed private name among family and friends.

Anyhow, you have the solution for your dilemma at your fingertips. Use the Move tab at the top of the article to put Rees in the location you deem appropriate. The old page becomes the redirect you were requesting.

Also, I wanted to congratulate you on your additions to the article in question; that's some nice work. I had no clue Rees was important in archaeology. I hope you will continue to develop the article, whether or not you move it.
