Categorisation[edit]

Please can you be more careful with categorisation, you should never make edits that put articles in red-linked categories per WP:REDNOT. If you continue to ignore the rules on that, then you may find yourself getting blocked and your edits reverted by bots that can revert a lot quicker than you can edit... If you want to create categories, you will need to get a Wiki account, which would make it a lot easier to talk about this stuff (which in turn will make it less likely that extreme sanctions will be taken against you, which will just irritate other Eircom users that may happen to use the same IP in future). And more generally you should have a look at WP:OVERCATEGORISATION and avoid wasting time on microcategorising people. A good category has 30+ members, not one or two, which means that in general you should not be looking to categorise eg actors or musicians at town level except for the biggest cities. And it's quite OK for a category to have 150 members or more - Wikipedia has quite good intersection tools for anyone who wants to find intersections between eg British actors and people from Blackpool. At the moment your editing technique is not really helping, you'd be much better contributing content to the articles rather than additional categories - 3-5 categories is quite enough for most articles.Le Deluge (talk) 14:26, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
