Per this line " Eh affects nearly 35-50 million people worldwide, leading to the deaths of as many as 100,000 people each year (El-Dib, 2017)."
The ref https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40475-017-0100-z just says "Amoebiasis is thought to be one of the most commonly known parasitic diseases affecting millions of people worldwide [57, 58]."

It appears that the by 50 million you mean 50 million symptomatic cases?[1]
