[edit]Hello, A2 Greg S. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Novemberjazz 21:27, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi - I'm a staff writer with environmental justice coalition Anthropocene Alliance. I am making edits on behalf of our members, but they are not "clients" per se as they don't pay us for membership. I'm just adding notes stating the environmental issues they face in their regions... - You are violating WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE and the site TOS. VQuakr (talk) 19:41, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I'm VQuakr. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Dania Beach, Florida, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. VQuakr (talk) 19:42, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
Dania Beach
[edit]Re [1], the link provided to a 2006 news story is insufficient since the content you added talks about current opinion and events in 2010. Discussion about article-specific content should occur on the article talk page, in this case located at Talk:Dania Beach, Florida. I also have WP:WEIGHT concerns with the proposed edit. Given the COI issues above, you shouldn't be editing these articles directly regardless. VQuakr (talk) 19:50, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- I have a link for that 2010 report right here:
- https://www.floridahealth.gov/environmental-health/hazardous-waste-sites/_documents/d/daniadistctr102810.pdf
- Which actually contradicts the residents' view of the situation, so if I really had a conflict of interest, I wouldn't even have mentioned that. I'm a journalist, aiming to add objective reporting so that incidents like these remain in the public record rather than getting swept under the rug A2 Greg S (talk) 20:32, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- You admitted your COI in the section above; performing a single action that is in nominal opposition to a particular point of view won't resolve that. Keeping stuff out from under the rug is not the purpose of an encyclopedia; see also Wikisource which does have a purpose more aligned with that. Here we cover issues and topics in proportion to their coverage in reliable secondary sources; we don't seek to popularize them. VQuakr (talk) 21:15, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
