My thoughts on this page

[edit]

Notability is subjective, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. If someone thinks a topic is worthy of notice, I think their opinion matters much more than someone who doesn't care about the topic. If Person B thinks Topic Y is not worthy of notice, then they don't have to look. But to get rid of Topic Y because Person B does not think it's worthy of notice, when Person A thinks it is worthy of notice, is taking something away from Person A and provides zero benefit to Person A or B. I think it would be good for this page to say that at least one reliable secondary source independent of the subject counts as evidence of notability. Regarding the nutshell, for many topics, primary sources are unavailable or difficult to find. It would be better to say that exclusion of articles should not be based on subjective feelings of unimportance or non-usefulness. No one thinks that every article on Wikipedia is useful. But if some readers think a particular article is useful, that means something. If many readers do, that means a lot. --Pixelface (talk) 20:02, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Table of notable fictional universes

[edit]

I was going to add a couple of items, but I have no idea how to edit a table in markup, and I don't want to screw it up. Star Trek - yes in all categories, and Dr Who - yes in all categories. The Dr Who wiki is here [1] although Outpost Gallifrey is still a better resource. The Star Trek wiki - memory-alpha - is here [2]Elen of the Roads (talk) 17:18, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I am formatting them now. Anyway, just look at my edit to see how to properly format. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 17:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this page WP:UP#OWNed?

[edit]

I just added WP:Requests for comment/Notability and fiction#See Also which includes a note that editors are encouraged to contribute. I'm aware that the Inclusion guidelines proposal is a user space page meaning WP:UP#OWN applies. It's not clear if you intend that others be working with you on editing this page or if you'd prefer what people have been doing which is to leave talk page comments. --Marc Kupper|talk 06:47, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am always open to suggestions on the talk page for now. Thanks! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 18:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most "notable" fictional characters

[edit]

The following characters appear in top ten style lists and therefore are important enough to justify an article:
