Gender violence, also known as gender-based violence or GBV, encompasses a large variety of crimes committed like rape, sexual harassment, stalking, human trafficking, domestic abuse,genital mutilation, and forced prostitution all based on ones gender. <ref>https://studentaffairs.duke.edu/wc/gender-violence/what-gender-violence/ref>. Although much gender-based violence is directed towards women and the terms are often treated as if they were interchangeable[2], the term is not exclusively used to refer to violence against women. Thus, violence against men, boys, transgendered people, or people targeted due to LGBTQI status can also be classified as gender-based violence. Gender is a high predictor of rape, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. 99% of rape cases are committed by men, whether it be female, male, or a member of the LBGTQI community.<ref>https://studentaffairs.duke.edu/wc/gender-violence/what-gender-violence/ref> When the word gender violence is used it has a strong connotation with violence against women because 1 in 3 women globally experience physical and or sexual violence within there lifetime. <ref>http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs239/en//ref> Risks factors for these acts to occur are low levels of education, anti social personality disorder, alcohol abuse, attitudes that condone violence, and past histories of violence. Gender violence in the LBGTQI community has had a focus of transgendered people. In the past year of 2017, 25 transgendered people were killed based on there gender identification in the United States alone and out of that 80% of them identified as female. <ref>https://www.hrc.org/blog/hrc-trans-people-of-color-coalition-release-report-on-violence-against-the/ref> The LGBTQI community is a large target for gendered hate crimes because of people not believing in there lifestyles and or gender changes. You see a pattern here with regards to gender minorities being singled out for how they identify. This comes down to cultural views and how people respect certain genders. These crimes committed are driven by unprecedented biases and or hatred against a certain group like females and or transgendered people. <ref>https://now.org/blog/sexual-violence-is-a-hate-crime//ref> Many different things can be done to help put a stop to gendered violence. Promoting concepts such as gender equality and integrating it in school-curriculum can prevent gender-based violence.[3] In accordance to that approaching these crimes as males issues as well can help educated men on how to take action and help. Abigail! Your information about Gender Violence was very informing on the issues that face us in relation to this violence. I think the first things that I noticed was that you should try to organize your information into paragraphs and add in headings and subtitles to make it clear and easy to read. Another thing I noticed was that your citations didn't have the normal look with a little number after each sentence. I would check out both of those things to make the article look more credible and organized for sure. When organizing you should try and divide it up with stuff that is related under one heading and allow it to flow and carry out the idea through the whole wiki article. I would love to see sections about who faces with gender violence the most or who is working towards fixing this? Just small little informative things that allow someone that is interested in this topic can leave with a clear and understanding of gender violence. However, you did have some good facts and numbers to show gender violence today, talk about it over tome periods or how is it changing or decreasing and increasing, just for a few ideas. Overall, the information was good! I would work on organizing and fixing citations to make it look really clear and neat! Abigail reading through your addition to the Gendered Violence page and everything is spot on! There are some minor grammatical errors in the paragraph, but other than that you present the information with statistics that help prove a non-biased opinion on how gendered violence can affect anyone. Just like Emily, your references aren't being numbered and removing to citations that are next to the ended sentence and to the references area. Other than that, the information is good! I think if you organize your separate topics and title them with general information so that people know what they're reading about within the realm of gender violence. I also didn't see that you had anything cited so I would fix that and add your sources because they seem really great.
