What does the article (or section) do well? - This article effectively communicates the information and statistics and organizes it in a way that is easy for a reader to understand. What changes would you suggest overall? - Overall, I would suggest editing the tone of the piece to be more less conversation. It is already very formal, but there are instances where more conversation sentence elements are used. What is the most important thing that the author could do to improve his/her contribution? - The most important thing you could do is make sure that all statements have an attached citation, as readers should be able to glean where each piece of information comes from. Did you glean anything from your classmate's work that could be applicable to your own? What does the article (or section) do well? I think this section does a really good job of providing a general overview of the organization of the demographics associated with parental incarceration. I think you should specify what the region of the demographics are - are these national statistics, or regional, etc?
What changes would you suggest overall? In addition to specific the region used in collecting the demographics, I think you could add a few more programs that help maintain contact between incarcerated parents and their children. If you could, I think it would be really amazing to mention a program (like the Parenting Program at Nebraska Correctional Center for Women) in each / as many states as possible. I don't know if all states offer / support those programs but if you could find one in as many states as possible, it would really help people determine their access to a program if they need it.
What is the most important thing that the author could do to improve his/her contribution? I think that adding more information on state-wide Parenting Programs in correctional facilities could have a really big impact on readers who are looking for situations that could be available to them or their loved ones in their state (more details under question 2!).
