rescues and info links.[edit]

Heya, please don't add links to rescues on dog article pages. As noble as rescues are (I am a foster for one), there are many reasons not to do this, first and foremost wikipedia is not a web directory, being an enclopedia it's not the place to find out where to get a dog, it's not a soapbox, so we can't promote rescues over breeders, and as such if we did allow rescue sites, we'd have to allow every back yard breeder and pet store as well. Advertising is advertising, even if it is for a not-for-profit. So i'm gonna remove these. - Trysha (talk) 19:46, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I as paraphrasing, the exact term used is: Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, image, or media files, it's easier to say "web directory". - Trysha (talk) 20:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and "links normally to be avoided" #1, #2, and #9. Most portal sites fall under these, many are #4 as they ad-o-riffic. Look at the external links "what should be linked to" section, and try to keep in mind that this isn't a collection of links, having more links than article is bad - so we have to draw the line somewhere, if we allow one portal, we have to add like the other 9000 that are out there on the net. A long time ago, I added a link to the daily drool (basset hounds portal), later on I removed it myself. - Trysha (talk) 20:20, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading this image to Wikipedia. There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. Thanks again, and please continue uploading! Richard001 04:02, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo usage[edit]

Hi, I've been working on a small game built around animal quizzes and I wanted to let you know I've used one of your pictures.

I found your picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Golden_hamster_front_1.jpg

And I attributed the picture like this: Adamjennison111 with this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Adamjennison111 and also added a link to the license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en

I hope you're happy with it, please let me know if this is not the case. You can find the game here: http://apps.facebook.com/animalalbum Or through here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/AnimalAlbum/156339584490672
