A tag has been placed on ListenUp, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:23, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

It's still advertising spam, and it's still a copyright violation from http://www.listenup.com/content/retail_stores/about_listenup/listenuphistory.php. I believe that it's still going to be deleted. -- ArglebargleIV 22:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Please explain why this posting is being deleted. I know that the administrators call this post spam. But I'm not sure how a history of a well known national retail store in the consumer electronics industry is spam. There are no advertisements in the written text. I haven't even posted a website link in this first version. There are dates of store openings, historical significant trends being referenced, quotes from the founders...it is a well written historical piece. If you are an administrator please explain how this is spam because currently I'm not sure how anyone who wishes to write an article on a retail store is suppose to go about it differently. If you take a look at the page on walmart it is similar. I was actually basing my article off of that template. I plan to add more on the different departments this company has and other relavent factual information. I appreciate you readinng this and understanding that I'm just creating a historical page for people to read about. If you don't believe me please read the article before you delete. I am sure whoever deleted it the first time didn't even have time to read it to make an accurate assumption.

[edit]First, what you entered was an nearly exact copy of the text at http://www.listenup.com/content/retail_stores/about_listenup/listenuphistory.php, so it's a copyright violation to begin with (please see Wikipedia's page on copyright. For that reason alone, it would have been deleted, since Wikipedia does not have the right to use the exact text, which has not been released under the proper licensing conditions. (Edit due to note you put on my talk page) The problem isn't just that whether you have the permission to post it, it's that the text has to released under the GNU Free Documentation License so that other people can edit it, and downstream copies of Wikipedia can use it as well.
I'm going to write more on the spam/advertising issue later tonight, but I have to run now. -- ArglebargleIV 22:57, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Listenup -- no more
[edit]Please stop. If you continue to create inappropriate pages such as Listenup, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NawlinWiki 20:47, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's no longer spam, but there's nothing in the article to indicate that the company meets Wikipedia's guidelines for notability -- see WP:CORP. NawlinWiki 21:06, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
