Request reason:

Is there any chance to get unblocked? I did not receive a reason in the last response even though I have changed my username. I would very much like the chance to try again. Thank you.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline: No response to my questions from a week ago. A new unblock may be requested at the bottom of the page, but it must address all of the issues (✉→BWilkins←✎) 09:47, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You need to answer BWilkins' three questions at the bottom of the page before admins will entertain an unblock. The last one was declined because you did not answer him. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:23, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As I have already acted twice on this issue I should not act again. But I feel that I did give a rational reason for my actions. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:22, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Account blocked because of promotional use

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:27, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

We did not realize we were using promotional language and it was completely unintentional. We simply wanted to share information about Rakia Galt in an encyclopedic manner and it was a misunderstanding. Our apologies

Decline reason:

But you've got to ask for a different username. — Daniel Case (talk) 21:21, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please also note trhat a wikipedia account is for one person only, and you should not edit on behalf of a company. Your unblock request suggests that both of these conditions need to be considered by you. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:23, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I misunderstood my apologies. I misread and thought the username was supposed to relate to the topic I was writing about. Any chance of unblocking? Thanks

Decline reason:

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 13:27, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have included a new username. Is this correct? Also, I am the single editor on this account. Again, I did not realize the material was promotional and would like a second chance in being able to upload revised information. Thank you in advance

Decline reason:

No. As I said, your username MUST NOT relate to any company or organisation. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:25, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My apologies for not addressing the questions below. As stated, I misunderstood the username policy and thought it was required to have a username that related TO the company, therefore explaining my reasoning behind having my username of the company name. In response to BWilkins, key questions: Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory? YES, Do you understand conflict of interest? YES, Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable? YES.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Daniel Case (talk) 02:49, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
