pmt temperature effects

I just saw the section you added on the effect of cryogenic temperatures on photoemission in pmt. Cryogenic applications for pmt are a bit out of my experience. I do know, from personal experience, that for work in the nir, say around 1064 nm, that the special cathodes used benefit greatly from cooling to reduce noise (as many other nir detectors do). In my experience only by ~40 deg C, with thermoelectrics, not with anything like liquid nitrogen, but the cooling had a dramatic effect. However, my knowledge does not come from something I can reference. I wonder if you have references to these effects that could expand on the temperature effect theme you have started. @AJim: Hi! You must be talking about recent changes I've made to photomultiplier tube (pmt): 20:17, 20:13, 20:12 on July 3, 2021.
... I wonder if you have references to these effects ... I think I can't cite any. I suggest that it's highly dependent on materials used and it's unclear which ones that article I've cited was talking about. I came across that notion after reading Unsolved problems in physics article. The noise reduction is probably related to Thermionic emission which may get cut at lower temperature.
