February 2023

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of Eastern Orthodox saints, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Pbritti (talk) 17:53, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You really had to delete that all? The list already not even right because of the Oriental saints mentioned. Come on. Add it back and I'll cite it. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 22:49, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just please add it back and I'll cite it. I worked way too hard on it. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 22:50, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
At least I'm trying to do a service so more people know about the saints. Have pity on me, a depressed college student striving to do something to bring attention to his faith. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 22:53, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, you will have to go through and individually cite those that you can. If you want help, I can offer it. However, starting that you are a depressed college student means I have concerns regarding your safety. If you are need of support, please consider one of Wikipedia's support networks. ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:28, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, you may be blocked from editing. Edit warring is not the solution. ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:55, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion isn't the solution either. You're not even Orthodox, you're Catholic. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 16:06, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That came off my strong my bad, I am bipolar excuse my bluntness, what I'm saying is that the information comes from Orthodox websites, words of Priests and Spiritual Fathers, and official Orthodox calendars. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 16:07, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop attacking other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Unacceptable to use an editor's faith to challenge their edits. ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:17, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm feeling very bullied by you right now. You are hurting my feelings. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 18:46, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Bullying is a prohibited activity on Wikipedia. However, inserting warning templates after an editor makes an uncivil comment is (typically) not characterized as bullying. I have offered to help you rebuild the list using reliable sources and the work you've put in thus far, but that requires you to adhere to Wikipedia policy. The best first step is heading over to WP:FIVEPILLARS, where you can learn more about what editing should and shouldn't look like, how to cooperate with editors, and how to ensure your editing is the best it can be. Once you feel ready to take the next step, ping me. I own quite a lot of Eastern Orthodox liturgical literature with substantial lists of saints that could help us build the page even further. Thanks. ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:23, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi can you check out my new edit and tell me if its ok? I cited my source for Romanos the Melodist and it comes from the Orthodox Church. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 23:46, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent start! I cleaned up the reference a tad (I can show you how to do one of those, if you'd like) and moved it to the right spot, but otherwise you nailed it! For the descriptions, remember not to capitalize every word; only capitalize those you would in standard writing. ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:24, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good work thus far, but one important note: OrthodoxWiki is not a reliable source and can not be cited on Wikipedia. While OW has a high standard and is very much recommended for researching Eastern Orthodoxy from an orthodox perspective (pun intended), it has been repeatedly identified as a prohibited user-generated website in several discussions (see here and here). I won't revert your edits that cite it and will trust you to find appropriate sources quickly. ~ Pbritti (talk) 20:45, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, but Orthodox Church of America or Greek Orthodox Church would be acceptable citations, correct? Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 23:33, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is a wikipedia article itself a reliable source? Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 23:35, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, they are not (see WP:CIRC for details). However, the sources they cite generally are, so find the source they use if you can! ~ Pbritti (talk) 00:47, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When I cite, does the citation number (the elevated one), need to be on the saint himself or can it just be in the works cited section. Alexanderdelargesir (talk) 15:25, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
