[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Robert Breedlove requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bgwhite (talk) 18:38, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
The article Robert Breedlove has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Subject fails to meet the notability requirements of WP:BIO - the cafe itself might conceivably, but he does not.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JohnInDC (talk) 11:28, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Nomination of Robert Breedlove for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Robert Breedlove is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Breedlove until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. JohnInDC (talk) 14:17, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Please don't remove AfD templates or their associated discussions. The purpose of that process is to throw open the issue to discussion among other editors. You should make your case for retention of the page at the discussion page, and at the end of the process a decision will be made to keep or delete the page. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 14:30, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Please stop removing the AfD template! JohnInDC (talk) 14:51, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. JohnInDC (talk) 14:53, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to remove Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, you may be blocked from editing. JohnInDC (talk) 15:01, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you remove Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. JohnInDC (talk) 15:05, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I appreciate that you are new, and things can get very confusing around here so while you are blocked let me explain, again, what is happening here.
Robert Breedlove founded Alaska's first internet cafe. No one disputes that. That is not the issue. The cafe may be notable (depending on the coverage it received during its lifetime - see WP:Notable for a general discussion of the issue) but even if the cafe is notable it does not automatically make its founder notable. Go read WP:Bio for a general sense of what makes a person notable. What seems to be lacking in this case is any meaningful coverage of Breedlove himself, the person. He is mentioned in some of the articles but that is about it. His cafe may be notable but he is not. In my opinion anyhow.
There are several ways to seek deletion of a non-notable article from Wikipedia. One is "speedy deletion", which is for stuff that manifestly does not meet the requirements. Only administrators can decide yea or nay on those. There is "proposed deletion", which will go into effect if no one objects. Anyone, including the author, can object to proposed deletion, and that end that process. This article has already survived those nominations. The final method is for an editor to nominate the article for deletion, which entails creation of an entirely separate page devoted to talking about whether the article should be deleted. Once that process is invoked, it has to run its course. You can't stop it by removing the notice, and in fact doing so is contrary to Wikipedia policy. That is why you were blocked.
So when you are unblocked, go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Breedlove and explain there why in your view the subject does in fact meet the requirements of WP:Bio. I may turn out to be wrong - but either way, that page is where the matter is to be discussed.
I am sorry we got off on the wrong foot here and hope that this explanation proves helpful. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 15:28, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
