Sumerophile

[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia -- it's good to have you editing, and it's always especially nice to have librarians editing. Perhaps I can explain the block that is affecting your library. A particularly troublesome user, whom we know as Sumerophile, has been causing a lot of disruption partly by creating many accounts. We have therefore had to block the range of IPs that he uses, which is 144.92.0.0/16 -- notation that means the 65,536 addresses between 144.92.0.0 and 144.92.255.255. This is very unfortunate and we regret having to take this action.

Users who have an account are able to get round this block, although it is not possible for them to create a new account. One thing that Wikipedia does allow is for users with accounts to create new accounts for exactly these circumstances -- to do so go to Special:CreateAccount, put in a name and an email address and click "by email". Account details will then be emailed to their address.

I hope this goes part of the way to sorting your problem -- I'm sorry we can't remove the block. Here are some pages that you might find helpful in editing Wikipedia:
