"fighting back"[edit]

It is generally expected amongst civilised society that one discusses differences, rather than provoking conflict. Rather than advocating the reversion of changes done for a very good reason (see WP:LIVING - it is non-negotiable), advocate instead a discussion, a search for the evidence, or some means to solve the conflict. Please cite[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to JoJo is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Yamla 03:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You said: "Ok since when is citing a well established publication such as "Entertainment weekly" considered to be poor source? The date/issue was provided so that anyone could look up the issue and its accompaning article to verify the information being sourced. Not everything can be found on the internet. What if you were citing a book? Can't put a link to that can ya? So you cite the author, publisher etc...If you continue to remove SOURCED information simply because YOU dont like it that is VANDALISM! The terms of her addtion as well as many others in question have been disscused and an agreement has been made accordingly. Please read the disscussion page, and better yet annouce your intentions so they can be disscused before such a rash decision such as deletion is made. Thank you"

I was complaining about this edit. As you can see, you don't cite Entertainment Weekly or any other source. Please read WP:CITE to learn how to cite a book. You also claim that this information was discussed on the article's discussion page but in fact, the only discussion was someone expressing that this information was inaccurate. Please read WP:V; it is your responsibility to cite the information you add. You may also want to familiarise yourself with WP:RS. --Yamla 14:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your complaning about her addition? The entertainment weekly article citation-> "This song has been JoJo's most successful single in the U.S. so far. It also showcases that JoJo is capable of hitting notes in the whistle register. The October 27, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly refers to JoJo in the review for her latest album as "a vocal phenomenon, capable of Mariah Carey-style upper register flourishes"." qualifies her for addtion to the category in question. It was decided that because the term "whistle register" is not accepted whole heartedly by the music community, simpler terms describing this ability would be excepted. According to disscusion her addition is perfectly fine, because the review under "the high road" section mentions her using these ablities in terms that have been deemed ok, through disscusion. There is a lot on the WHISTLE REGISTER SINGERS disscusion page(not jojos), contemplating this subject. I know the rules and have been fighting for compromise and understanding about how they affect editing. Read any other article in this category they are ALL sourced using reviews and tv shows. See Christina Aguliera's page for example.

Oh, my apologies. Last time someone tried to add that category to that page, there was no mention of her ability to sing in the whistle register. I must have missed the addition of that source. I'm sorry for causing you problems. When I saw your addition, I saw that it wasn't cited and as I did not believe the information existed elsewhere in the page, I thought it was a problem. Clearly I was wrong; your information was indeed properly cited by the article already. I need more coffee. Thank you for helping to improve the article. --Yamla 03:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
