User talk:Artlit~enwiki
I'm a new user trying to upload an article. I pasted in the whole article but only the first sentence came up. I saved it anyway as a start - perhaps I shouldnt' have?
Also I want to change my username so I posted my request but I don't understand the difference between talk page and user page. So I created a new account with the name I prefer. I realise I hadn't actually created an account before, just a username.
Can you help me to load up my article, preferable with my new account name which is ArtLit? many thanks
Please could you tell me the name of the article?--Thw1309 08:34, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
The article is called Donald Meltzer
I discovered your mistake. You end your references with the wrong oder. The only working way is </ref>. You put the backslash behind the letters (ref/). So the server did not discover the end of the reference. You will see, I added a Chapter ==references==. You need to do this to make your quotations visible.
You have two possiblilities to change your Username.
- You can create a new user ArtLit, the same way as you created Meghwilliams and ask the administrators to delete the old user. There is a possibility to rename your account.
- There is a page Wikipedia:Changing username, where you can ask the administrators to rename, but I do not believe they will do this, because this will only be made to save accounts with many edits.
Please do not forget to sign your articles by pressing ~ four times or pressing the 10th button ahead of the writing field.
Thanks very much - I'd never have worked that out! Meghwilliams 12:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Artlit. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Artlit~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
