Peer Review of "Early History of Feminism in Chile"

[edit]

Hi Awhona! This was a great post and I definitely learned a lot from it. I don't really have major critiques for you, but I would say that you could maybe talk about some more individuals who were important figures in the early history of feminism in Chile. Also you could also include some more important historic events that allowed for progress in the feminist movement in Chile. Also, I would suggest using the [[ ]] feature for other terms such as Círculo de Lectura, etc.

Overall, great post! Good luck with the rest of the assignment :)

Early History of Feminism in Chile

[edit]

The first female organizations that came to be in Chile started around the year 1915, but unlike many other countries and their groups, these women were most likely to be in the upper middle class[1]. As such, they were largely able to put together these groups where exploration of the interest in feminism came to be by shedding particular light on the issues that middle to upper class feminists found to be the most important. One of the earliest examples of this in Chilean history occurred on June 17, 1915 when a young university student, and later a diplomat and suffragist, named Amanda Labarca decided to start a group called the Círculo de Lectura, where she was able to promote Chilean culture towards women [2]. With this, she was able to bring together positivity and change within the women in her community because she strived to ensure that all women could be given a chance to have their voices heard, regardless of their affiliations and social status[3]. Generally speaking, this was what was seen as the beginning of first wave feminism amongst Chilean women[4].Asanyal4 (talk) 06:09, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In your citations, you don't need to put the ASU library link (in fact, please don't put it). As long as you have cited the book correctly, that's all it needs. People cannot access the ASU library unless they are affiliated with ASU.Drlmanderson (talk) 16:30, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
