What does this have to do with Wikipedia

[edit]

What does this have to do with Wikipedia? From WP:NOESSAY: "The purpose of an essay is to aid the encyclopedia itself (by providing information, instructions, interpretations, or advice) and not any unrelated outside causes.". Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 11:13, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's in his userspace, it doesn't have to have anything to do with Wikipedia. Jon C. 11:22, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it doesn't have anything to do with Wikipedia, why is it classified as a Wikipedia essay? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 11:32, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's not. Where does it say that? Jon C. 11:57, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see what you mean. Maybe the essay tag should be removed. Asarlaí is perfectly entitled to keep this page in his own userspace, though. Jon C. 11:58, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe it's supposed to be a {{Userspace draft}}, a {{User sandbox}}, or a {{Workpage}}. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 12:17, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Jon.
Emmette, I've switched the {{User essay}} tag to a {{Workpage}} one. I've been meaning to make it into more of an essay (a non-Wikipedia one I guess) but I haven't got round to it yet. ~Asarlaí 15:26, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If this Workpage isn't something that's meant to go into an article, or otherwise something that's related to Wikipedia, wouldn't that violate Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a webhost? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 15:44, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Typo?

[edit]

Simply because this is an entire page of new-spellings I don't want to alter it, but I believe there is a typo:

"For example, almost all words with the -or ending (such as error) were once spelt -our (errour) and almost all words with the -er ending (such as member) were once spelt -er (membre)" 83.70.170.48 (talk) 13:44, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
