Flags in infobox[edit]

Please take a moment to read WP:INFOBOXFLAG. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:16, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: Thanks. I had read that, but also Template:Infobox settlement which specifically allows "Flag icons or flag templates can be used in this field..." under the "Location, established, seat, subdivisions, government, leaders" section. This is specific guidance for this type of infobox instead of the general infobox guidance you referenced. I greatly appreciate the feedback, but think I got this one right. A guideline trumps a template. I suspect "can" means "will work", because many editors add stuff to templates that don't work (or only work on some templates). You may want to start a discussion and get a consensus. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:28, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline/Archive 3#flagicons in infobox. My feeling is there was a rough consensus not to include flags, but you may want to start an RfC and see if you can get a firm consensus. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:40, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Magnolia677: Again, greatly appreciated. I hadn't seen that talk page, and it seems guidance has changed over time. I'll do some more reading and reintroduce the topic. I'll support consistency, whatever the right answer. Have a great day! Basealey (talk) 21:42, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
