Speedy deletion nomination of Bowen, Colorado (disambiguation)

[edit]

Hello Beaujuste,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Joseywales1961 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Bowen, Colorado (disambiguation) for deletion, because it is unnecessary per one of the criteria at WP:G14.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joseywales1961}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Joseywales1961:

Two pages for Bowen, Colorado because two different communities. Seems like a good candidate for a disambiguation page to me, but if you don't like it, I'll trust you. Beaujuste (talk) 21:01, 7 August 2021 (UTC)Beaujuste[reply]

Beaujuste, Hi, and thank you for your contributions, alas, there needs to be at least two existing articles for there to be a disambiguation page. Maybe someone could create a page for the community that doesn't have an article yet. Have a good weekend and happy editing! JW 1961 Talk 21:18, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseywales1961:

Already created. I was in the middle of publishing when you deleted it. Now a search for "Bowen Colorado" brings up Bowen in Las Animas County. Doesn't find Bowen in Rio Grande County until that is included in the search criteria. I don't think that's what you intended.

Beaujuste, Hi, I see the new article now and just marked it patrolled. It's a good idea to create the article before the disambiguation for future reference. I don't actually delete pages as a second opinion of an admin is always needed [see page logs], if you wish to re-create it, I or another reviewer will approve it this time as there will be two article on the page. Again thanks for your edits and sorry for the messing around JW 1961 Talk 21:35, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseywales1961:

Thanks. Bowen, Colorado now redirects to Bowen, Colorado (Las Animas County): https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bowen,_Colorado&redirect=no

Does the redirect page need to be deleted to make the disambiguation work?

Beaujuste, I pointed the redirect to the disambiguation page, I think that should be fine now JW 1961 Talk 10:34, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseywales1961:

Thanks.

Your additions to Howrytown, Virginia have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 02:52, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you noticed that the text you deleted as "copyright" was material I wrote myself. Further, notice Wikitree's copyright statement: "ONTENT MAY BE COPYRIGHTED BY WIKITREE COMMUNITY MEMBERS." In other words, by the author.
