Hi, welcome from me too![edit]

Although I have the feeling that a real welcome isn't necessary anymore. It's rather clear that on the one side this user account was made just for covering the Belgian elections, and on the other side, by looking at your "first" edits, that you are used to contributing to Wikipedia.
It's nice to have someone dedicating his/her time to these elections. --LucVerhelst 20:05, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for your note on my talk page. Actually, I'm feeling not too bad, the results at the Antwerp level were the best the city has had for over 15 years. My mood is up, rather than down. -- ➌  LucVerhelst  21:33, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Results election 2007[edit]

A very nice results tabel you added in the Belgian general election, 2007 article but... Wouldn't it be better to create a results tabel like in the article Belgian general election, 2003 where both the results for the elections for Senate and Chamber of Representatives are listed in two different tabels? -- fdewaele, 22 May 2007, 21:08.

Yes, absolutely. For that however, we will need the detailed results (including number of votes), which will only be available after a few days. I think a simple one like this is better for the first hours. Belection06 17:21, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Belgium[edit]

Hi! I think you're doing a good job keeping Wikipedia updated with Belgian elections but I was a bit surprised by your edits to Miss Belgium. I'm not sure if the fact that a beauty queen doesn't speak three languages is noteworthy. Looking at other countries with more than one official language (Switzerland, Canada, Finland or even Ireland), I'm sure you could find quite many beauty queens who have not spoken one of the official languages. What is noteworthy is the reaction, and there I was also surprised by the wording in your paragraph. I've read about the event in De Standaard and yes, it seems to have been a controversy in Flanders that she doesn't speak Nederlands. In the rest of Europe, however, this piece of news has been reported as yet another incident of Flemish nationalism. At least in Scandinavia and England, the controversy has been the behaviour of the audience, not the miss herself. JdeJ (talk) 15:10, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The reason that I included the paragraph is obviously the link to the hot topic of the 2007 Belgian government formation. The reference [1], which was added by someone else, is probably a better indication of this than anything I added. Looking at the title and subtitle of that reference (and the mere fact of a contest winner being booed by the audience), I do personally believe that the word controversy is justified. If you disagree however, feel free to make amendments. I did not mean to choose the side of the audience or the Miss, I just tried to display the facts and explain the situation.
