Bf335 Peer Review by Emma Dornan

[edit]

Lead Section: I think your lead section is good and contains a good amount of information.

Adaptive Basis Section: Predator/ Anti-predator Section: It might be good to include an example of an animal that uses matutinal behaviour as an anti-predation technique.

I would make a separate section for "foraging" and include predation in this section.

As I was reading your draft, I was wondering how animals know when it is the "matutinal" time period. Is this dependent on the brightness of the light/ circadian rhythm? I know this is explained somewhat in your lead section but expanding on this might be useful.

A history of research in this area might be a good idea!

Maria's peer review

[edit]

Hi, I'm not actually assigned this article for review but I can't find the draft for the article I should be reviewing. The article looks great! The pictures and formatting look really good. The lead looks good but there are no citations for that entire section. Overall, the article is clearly written but there are some sentences that are a little convoluted, especially for a non-academic article. For example, the last sentence in the "Matutinal Predatory/Anti-Predatory Behaviour" section. Also, do you need to have "surprise attack prey silhouetted at the surface," as a quotation? Here, I think it might be better to paraphrase because the quote doesn't seem necessary. Further, there is space to add a few more sections, something like; the morphological or physiological adaptations of animals that exhibit matutinal behaviours. That's pretty much it.Maria Dobbin (talk) 20:50, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
