the super tanker

marie bashir is due tonight!... JarrahTree 11:44, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Bomber 210 (B210) is in Busselton, WA and has already done its first drop a short time ago, Cessna Citation V, which is Fire Scanner 201 (FS201) should arrive shortly. Bidgee (talk) 11:49, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
are you aware of or have used bushfire.io yet? or know it well? JarrahTree 11:58, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
in the know, every movement it makes. bushfire.io is only useful if an aircraft is broadcasting ADS-B and there is a receiver nearby if flying at low altitude, SEATs (Single Engine Air Tanker) mostly don't, as well as some of the helicopters (Firebird and Helitak). Bidgee (talk) 12:04, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Sheesh the fire ground was busy this afternoon - I love the acronym meat for some of the helitacs... JarrahTree 12:07, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Imagine the comms would've been quite busy, hopefully enough freq to use (last season wasn't fun, too many big fires and not enough freq or range)! Well Victorians would yell at me and say it is "Helitack", but us New South Welshmen see little point of the "k". ;) Hopefully the TC diverts south with rain and not wind! Bidgee (talk) 12:13, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
The bushire.io catch of the wind suggests north east winds for most of the day today - but, the https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-238.80,-34.04,1096/loc=117.416,-31.109 earth nullschool app suggests a real mess - and it looks like the end of the world by the end of the week http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/viewer/index.shtml

interesting the io item gives popup id's for the choppers - quite detailed... JarrahTree 12:31, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

They use Windy for the winds. Bidgee (talk) 12:33, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
looks like it utilises nullschool :) JarrahTree 12:38, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
BTW - any thoughts on any form of listing the planes/choppers utilised at big fires - ?? JarrahTree 10:08, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Would be tricky, not all aircraft are easily trackable publicly. Also a second Boeing 737-300 (N137CG/B137) is on route to WA, should be around hour away from Busselton. Bidgee (talk) 11:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Some of the aircraft active today (below), there were more. Bidgee (talk) 12:37, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
