Ray Comfort

[edit]

Hello, I'm Sue Rangell. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to Ray Comfort, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Sue Rangell[citation needed] 04:23, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

>Thank you so much. I left a detailed response on your talk page. Birdy29 (talk) 07:30, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia. When adding material to articles, as you did with this edit to Ray Comfort, please make sure the material is accompanied by a citation of a reliable source. If you could add such a citation to that material you added, please do so. If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 03:53, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

>I left something on your talkpage, Nightscream. Thanks a BUNCH! (Asked how to type a ref tag for "Film/TV/video recording".) Birdy29 (talk) 07:40, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A full table of citation templates is at WP:Cite templates. If you search for "video (movie, television production, documentary, etc.)", you'll find it near the bottom of the table. If you still have trouble with it, you don't have to use the template, and can just enter the information without it, using the following format:
<ref>Author's surname, Author's given name (Date) [url Title of the story or video] Name of publisher</ref>
Here are two examples of this formatting that I used for two citations in the Kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard article:
This citation here:
<ref>Hopper, Jessica (July 7, 2011). [http://abcnews.go.com/US/jaycee_dugard/jaycee-dugard-interview-describes-giving-birth-phillip-garridos/story?id=14021938#.TuBJR0qZMzR "Jaycee Dugard Interview: She Describes Giving Birth in Phillip Garrido's Backyard Prison"]. [[ABC News]].</ref>
...becomes this footnote in that article.
This citation here:
<ref>Donelan, Jennifer (July 8, 2011). [http://www.wjla.com/articles/2011/07/jaycee-dugard-recounts-horror-of-18-years-in-captivity-63386_page2.html "Jaycee Dugard recounts horror of 18 years in captivity"]. ABC News./[[WJLA-TV]].</ref>
...becomes this footnote in the same article.
If you still have trouble, just let me know what the citation or url is, and I'll do it for you. Happy Holidays. :-) Nightscream (talk) 14:09, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

>Great!!! I was able to construct my ref tag and edit the page. I hope my edit sticks (is acceptable). I believe there's nothing wrong with it. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi again, and Happy Holidays. Please do not add unsourced material to the Ray Comfort article, as you did with this edit. Material added to articles must be supported by reliable sources, and the material you added is not found in the source cited at the end of that passage. Thank you. Merry Christmas!
