Speedy deletion of Homegain

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Homegain, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Homegain. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. GBT/C 19:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this page is relevant...

It seems to me that someone from homegain does not want the company history published. The profile of this company is heavily talked about in the bay area and it should not be removed. Everything is factual... Please explain why this would be deleted?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bringingsunshine2008 (talkcontribs)

No, the problem is that you are attacking a company but providing no references from reliable sources to prove what you write. Moreover, you are violating Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. We have no way of verifying that you aren't lying through your teeth. I have no idea who or what Homegain is, nor do I care. But we will not let Wikipedia become a place to post random attacks against a company, person or other entity. If your charges are correct, someone will have written about it and you can add a link to that as a reference. Otherwise, this article will continue to be deleted, and if you keep re-posting it, you will eventually be blocked from editing. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:15, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is being deleted because the the tone of the article is promotional and it fails the website notability guidelines. Articles about companies or websites are allowed if they're written in a non-promotional, objective tone and the subject meets certain notability guidelines including being the subject of multiple independent sources.
