Copy and pasting[edit]

We run "copy and paste" detection software on new edits. One of your edits appear to be infringing on someone else's copyright. See also Wikipedia:Copy-paste. We at Wikipedia usually require paraphrasing. If you own the copyright to this material please follow the directions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to grant license. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:13, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am sorry I violated copyright. I did not realize that content i created and manage from another website would violate the copyright if copied and pasted, even with permissions for use. I would like another chance to recreate the page and paraphrase the content. I can provide source and reference information as well. I will also leave out any photos. I did not know that me having user permissions would violate policy. I should have read the starters guide more carefully and will reference the resource pages moving forward. Thank you.

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Can you explain your relationship to the topic you are writing about? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:35, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am a student at UNR who wanted to write about the extension on our campus know at the National Judicial College. It is not affiliated with UNR directly but was granted a lifetime lease on the university campus. We have a JUdical Studies program that requires classes at the NJC and the national council for juvini and family court system. The NJC did not have a wiki page and I thought I could create one and learn something at the same time.

Request for further information relating to unblock request[edit]

This is one of several single-purpose accounts which have appeared in recent months to post promotional content on the same subject, and at least two of the accounts have copied content from the same place. Although the blocking administrator mentioned only the copyright issue, there are also the facts that promotional editing is unacceptable, that anyone with a close connection to the subject they are editing about may have a conflict of interest, and that anyone editing as part of work where they are paid must disclose their paid connection. Can you comment on those issues? Also, can you say what connection you have to the accounts Ashley.h.peters and J.e.clover? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 16:47, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have any connection with the above mentioned accounts and did not know that this page creation had already been attempted. The a judicial studies student at the university of Nevada reno, I was curious about our connection to the national judicial college. I volunteered with the NJC to manage their website and update their content. I am not paid, I don't do this as a promotional piece. I googled and found it didn't have a wiki page so I thought I could not only learn a ton of information about the school but also take a stab at creating a wiki page, which I have never done before.
On that note, I will never be doing it again. Having been treated so poorly by the admins and with such an overreaction. I will never be using Wikipedia again, nor donating annually. I gave what I thought was a good attempt, but not understanding fully the rules or how to properly use the page (even though I did provide references and had permission from the NJC to use photos and their content that I updated) and was basically thrown in Internet jail for doing so. You could have just take down the page and sent me a message saying I needed to fix it, instead of blocking me entirely within minutes of publishing the page.
You would be welcome to contribute on other topics if you paraphrase. Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 11:18, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
