Assignment #4:
Added to article about Atkinson–Shiffrin memory model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atkinson–Shiffrin_memory_model): ^ "Familiarity is assumed to reflect the activation of nodes in a lexical store in which each node represents an individual word or object. Whenever a node is accessed it is activated and this activation decreases gradually over time." Yonelinas, Andrew (2002). "The Nature of Recollection and Familiarity: A Review of 30 Years of Research". Journal of Memory and Language.
Assignment #5:
For our article, “Transfer-Appropriate Processing”, first we plan to add a lot of sources to our article since there are currently only two sources. We want to have evidence to back up all of our information. We also plan to add subsections with titles throughout the article to create more organization. Currently the article just has a title, but no other sub-headers to explain how it is organized. In the first section we will define transfer-appropriate processing and explain what will be discussed throughout. The other sections will consist of the history of transfer-appropriate processing, examples, how it has been applied to cognitive science, studies that have been done or will be done, and other interesting facts. Article Evaluation
Fist article, nothing to evaluate.
Second article: Availability Heuristic Evaluation
Good Article: – Lead section is understandable o I understand what theory is being presented o Example helped make things more clear – There are numerous headings/subheadings o This helps people jump directly to where they want to go o You can run through this article to see if what information you need is actually presented – This article is very balanced o There is a lot of information presented, but each aspect of the article is presented equally o There doesn’t seem to be one section of this article that receives more attention than another – This article is neutral o While this article presents the readers with examples and applications, it also explains the theory’s critiques – This article is reliable o There are 27 strong sources referenced in this article o Anyone is able to go directly to where the author of this article found the information presented
Poor Article: – No warning banner is presented – The lead is good, but a little redundant, but still understandable – After each paragraph, a source is listed – All groups are named – All topics are covered – Each section is given the same amount of attention – There is a good amount of sources listed Bro47024 (talk) 19:24, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
