Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Steve Hogarth. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. ——SerialNumber54129 16:37, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Hogarth Wiki edit

[edit]

In regards to this edit, Steve Hogarth has admitted himself that he has been telling people he is three years younger than he actually is for the last 30 years at the request of his record label. My edit is correct Bruceeddie01 (talk) 17:42, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the reply, Bruceeddie01. The problem is though, that if that's the case, that's the age that (for the last 30 years, as you say) all the reliable sources that Wikipedia relies on to verify what it says will also say. You see the problem? ——SerialNumber54129 17:45, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You don't get it, do you? You keep changing a date and therefore keep contradicting a reliable source with something that is less reliable. So I'm going to keep reverting it. You're wasting my time, but you're also wasting your own, so you might as well stop. Rodericksilly (talk) 13:17, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

More reliable than the man himself who admitted (Marillion Weekend 2017 in Leicester) that John Arnison (The bands ex-manager) asked him to say he was 30 when he joined the band so that he would appear younger than Fish in order to sell more records. Or maybe more reliable than Lucy Jordache (The bands current manager) who has admitted that she made him come clean as she was tired of lying for him.

More anecdotes. We don't use anecdotes for sources on Wiki, we use sources. The Marillion website says 1959, so that's what we have to go with. Rodericksilly (talk) 18:19, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
