Feedback for Marc Hudson article[edit]

Hello, I am here due to your thread at the DragonForce talk page. Articles on musicians need to assert the subject's individual notability. Since Marc Hudson has never worked with any other notable band apart from DragonForce itself, he is unlikely to be notable. Basically, subjects getting some media coverage are always considered notable. Marc Hudson may be cited in many news stories, he may also be interviewed to talk about the band, but he needs more coverage on himself as an individual musician, not just as a DragonForce member. In other words, instead of focusing on DragonForce, the sources (or at least parts of them) should be focused on Marc Hudson and his techniques, biography, influences, etc. If you could find two or three of these, that should be enough, preferably from major sources (Loudwire, Classic Rock, etc.). Minor websites and blogs are acceptable for extra sourcing, but biographical articles cannot entirely rely on them. Your draft currently has three sources, all of them self-published. Self-published sources are not, like, forbidden, but they should be avoided as much as possible. Of course the band's official website and Twitter will have material about him, but these are not enough. Take a look at WP:MUSICBIO and WP:BLP for more details. • Thanks for your inputs, I will be sure to add more info about his personal life, but info on this individual is hard to come by for some strange reason. That's the main reason I am creating the article. George.Edward.C (talk) 16:44, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the problem is that finding sources must always precede creating the article. The harder it is to find references, the harder it'll be for the article to be accepted. You've added a reference to Encyclopaedia Metallum; since it is a collaborative website similar to Wikipedia (a website to which virtually any person may contribute), it is unlikely to be accepted as a reliable source. Oh, and I just realized I didn't address the copyright matter. Since Marc is still alive (which means it is still possible to obtain a free picture of him), any photo of his must be free of copyrights. Flickr and other similar websites sometimes have pictures with licenses that allow you to upload them to Wikimedia Commons (the main picture at DragonForce was found at Flickr). I don't know exactly how to do it, but the Wikimedia Commons step-by-step guide to uploading pictures is normally clear and easy to understand. Victão Lopes Fala! 18:36, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
