Noninvasive Extremity Arterial Evaluation
[edit]Evaluation of the extremities for arterial atherosclerotic occlusive disease:Big text a) A combination of techniques is routinely used to evaluate the lower extremities for obstructive disease, including Physiologic methods such as Doppler flow velocity waveforms, Pulsed Volume Recording (PVR) Waveforms, Photoplethysmography (PPG) waveforms, and Segmental systolic pressures, as the primary diagnostic tool. Duplex ultrasonography arterial mapping is performed as a secondary diagnostic tool, for more specific anatomical information in preparation for possible anticipated revascularization procedures, and for post-operative surveillance of revascularization sites. While all physiologic testing is done bilaterally to allow right-left comparisons as well as evaluating relative segmental changes in each extremity, Duplex arterial mapping may be performed on the symptomatic limb or the revascularized extremity.
