Reverting vandalism

[edit]

That's right. All you have to do is revert the change, making sure you revert to a clean version (some vandals will save multiple vandalised edits before they are spotted). Then leave a warning on their talk page, with increasing severity. I use {{subst:test1|Article name}}, {{subst:test2|Article name}}, {{subst:test3|Article name}}, and {{subst:test4|Article name}}. After the 3rd or 4th vandalism in succession they can be reported to a special noticeboard where an admin will intervene and probably block them for a while. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with, especially in adding content to the encyclopaedia - fighting vandalism just gets in the way of that! --Steve (Stephen) talk 00:10, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After Midnight left a similar response to your query on my talk page...

2 part answer... 1) you can revert the vandalism with an edit summary that says "rvv" which means "reverting vandalism" 2) you can pick an appropriate warning from WP:WARN and leave it on the user's talk page. --After Midnight 0001 00:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And just for the record, the vandal that you were reverting was reported and indefinitely blocked, so good job in catching it! --Steve (Stephen) talk 00:42, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
