Hi Catnik. On headgear, I believe there is a distinction between the circlet and a headpiece. the circlet is a subcategory of crown, it's just missing there. A headpiece is a couple different things, either a band around the forehead, or a net over the head. The link could use a picture to clarify that. Snafflekid 18:20, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Headpiece" is a horribly vague and general term, and in practical use is interchangeable with "headgear." When editing the original content, the description was that of a circlet, or fillet, which is a kind of headgear used from Sumerian costume to the present, and across classes. Yes, "circlet" can be used for a crown, but it is a more general term, and is used across a broad spectrum of classes and periods. Refer to both Totura's "Survey of Historical Fashion" and Bouchet's "20,000 Years of Fashion," if you like.

Referring to a "beaded headpiece" that is the only name I have ever seen used for such a thing. Perhaps you know? The thing I refer to is a mesh or netting draped over the hair, beaded, but not like a snood. This has fringe. I have seen it called "reece" once but I don't think that is exactly the same thing at what I refer to. Think flapper or cleopatra. Snafflekid 04:38, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
