Chris Herbert

[edit]

Hi! There is a question at the article Talk:Car dealer auctions about copyright. Are you the automotive expert Chris Herbert, author of this article [1] and [2] (as it says here)? If you are the original author, by publishing Car dealer auctions, did you read that "You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL" and that your writing may be "edited mercilessly or redistributed by others"?

If you are not Chris Herbert, you said that you have his permission to publish it under the GFDL -- please show it (paste it, so others can read it) or else the article may be deleted. --5ko 07:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can answer me here, please edit this page and place your answer below. --5ko 07:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am the author of both versions of the article - the one on MerchantCircle.com and the this on Wikipedia.com. This means that all allegations of copyright infringement are unfounded. I also agree with GFDL's agreement wholeheartedly: I welcome other automotive experts to edit, expand or otherwise contribute to this article constructively. cfherbert 15:40, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it would be not only automotive experts, but anyone and only who can back his statements up by a verifiable source. If you wish to work on the article and to make it more close to the standards here, please see Wikipedia:Footnotes for the technical part. In fact, every single phrase and statement which is not clear where it comes from, or may raise some doubt or objection, should be backed up by a footnote indicating the source. It is not OK to quote oneself unless the quoted work has been published in a scientific, peer-reviewed magazine, comes from an official press release or a newspaper interview. You can read more on citing sources at Wikipedia:Citing sources. About the wiki standards, please see Wikipedia:The perfect article and Wikipedia:Featured articles. If you have any question, feel free to ask me here, on this page. --5ko 18:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
