Prof Garcia's Comments

[edit]

I think you are off to a great start, Caisha! You have a solid group of academic articles to begin with, so please review them and begin to draw out information. Remember that your job on Wikipedia is to write an encyclopedic entry: you will have to skim a lot in order to get the useful bits of information that you will use. But well done! Week 6: An okay addition to your page, but make sure that you are actually reading your sources, putting quotations and paraphrases onto your page, etc. What you added is not going to be helpful to you later on when you sit down to write your article. @Chaz0002: You are doing an exceptional job, Caisha! Keep up the great work as you prepare your final draft of the mainspace. I think you are doing exactly what you should be doing and are on the right track. Well done. =) Alfgarciamora (talk) 19:14, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Week 7: Peer Review

[edit]

Hello Chaz0002! I am very much looking forward to the work you produce since I am a Public Relations Major and I am doing a minor in Marketing. To start off, I would pay a little more attention to some typos when typing or writing your article. For example, in your lead/intro paragraph you have the following sentence: "Consumer socialization, also called consumer development, is the processes by which young people acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes relevant to their functioning as consumers in the marketplace." Those two words should be changed/fixed due to grammar problems, is it one process or more? I would fix "functioning" to "function" because you are talking about young people who will perform in the future, if that makes sense. Anyway, pay attention to those type of things. As far as content, don't just write how and who influence young people. You could also write why are marketers and policy makers interested in this idea, what role do they play? See if you can link the use of social media and how it relates to consumer socialization? Or you may talk about the role that mass media, along with advertising, play with this idea of consumer socialization? Think about those things, may be you could find some interesting stuff along those lines. I hope this helps you with the development of your article. @Milo estevez Thanks so much for reviewing my page! Your ideas are pretty great so I'll try to find some information to expand on those topics. I'm so used to Word correcting my writing I didn't even register those typos, I think I will write my paper in word first then transfer it over to this page when Im ready to do the linking and template.
