History History This State Park became open to the public in 2005 and was originally created when Lt. Joe Johnston was tasked with finding a better route from Fort Sam Houston to the outlining military routes. One most notable must see are the 110 year old dinosaur tracks which consists of Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon dinosaurs.


Consumer Information This park is open 4 days out of each week and cost is $6 per person to enter. There are eco friendly signs posted throughout the park with the intention of educating the general public with regard to how to protect our Earth and all creatures that inhabit it.

Geology

These grounds offers over 40 miles of rough terrain and smooth trails for the the biker, hiker and camper. The biome known as the Edwards Plateau consists of a lush eco friendly environment primarily made up of Juniper and Oak trees outlined by Blackland Prairie grasses.

Wildlife and Habitat There are five primary producers on these grounds which are the White-tailed deer, Cotton-tailed rabbit, Coyote, Fox and Raccoon. The three known carnivores are the Coyote, Fox and Raccoon while the three herbivores are the squirrels, rabbits and White-tail Deer. There are two known endangered species that inhabit this area which are the Golden-Cheeked Warbler and the Black-Capped Vireo. The Warbler resides in Texas and nest in low lying shrubbery while the Vireo travels from South America to Texas to breed and nest in the Juniper and Oak using specific spider webbing.
