Dorcas (Book of the New Sun) has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt the subject might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability for the relevant concerns. An example of notability guidelines can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (websites). If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Speedy deletion of Matthew maher (actor)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Matthew maher (actor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Triwbe (talk) 20:44, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was User:Triwbe who nominated that article for deletion. The version I saw had no assertion of notability, and was mis-capitalized besides. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to look at Matthew Maher (actor)! --Orange Mike | Talk 21:03, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Amusingly, the "version you saw" was very much not finished. The time gap between my decision to try to create the page (rather than leave the name unlinked on the JfC page) and its deletion out from under me was maybe 10 minutes. I now have a much more detailed page ready to roll, which I suppose I'll now need to merge into the existing one (which, I'll note, didn't seem to exist when I was looking earlier -- check its history). I was mostly just irritated that the page was getting nominated for deletion and then zapped before I had a reasonable chance to actually create it. --Chetfarmer (talk) 21:14, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I never "create" a page unless the very first version I post is defensible from speedy deletion. The alternative is the irritation you just underwent. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:30, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
