Something wrong

[edit]

I didn't revert your edit, just moved it to talk. RFC is not a question and answer session, an outside view should be a coherent view point relevant to the dispute in question. If people agree with that view they can endorse it. The view as you presented it didn't really fit that and I couldn't see how anyone could endorse it (That's not to say other maynot be interested in the answer, but that's all they'd be endorsing a desire to know the answer). If you want to post questions or response, then the talk page is the page for that. --pgk 17:23, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Petrofsky's comments

[edit]

I've removed them again. They are broadly irrelevant to wikipedia and are not likely to help reach a reasonable conclusion to the current dispute, but merely inflame it. As he isn't an editor here it's hard to see how he can put in any constructive views as to the way things work here. From my perspective Merkey has been given some good advice by regular editors/admins, it's up to him if he want to take notice of it, and any response the community may have if he doesn't. --pgk 09:59, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I thought it was the thing to do, after my 'outside comments' were moved by you to that page. Petrofsky's comments make for interesting reading. Some of them are probably not relevant to the question, but at the very least he should have the right to answer Mr Merkey's comments calling him "sinister and disturbed", I should think. Should Merkey be sanctioned for those comments? WP:NPA seems to be the applicable policy. ChurchOfTheOtherGods 10:09, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rights on wikipedia are pretty limited, there is the right to leave and the right to fork. That doesn't mean we don't try and deal with personal attacks/incivility etc. but the focus is on creating an encyclopedia, not on creating some utopian society. In general NPA applies to other wikipedia editors, not any arbitary third party. I'm sure Petrofsky's been called worse and will live to tell the tale.
I moved your original comments because they weren't a view, it was borderline over deleting them since they weren't a simple attack, and in case some wanted to entertain the idea that financial contributions should lead to enhanced rights (An obnoxious idea to many), some idea of level maybe applicable. --pgk 10:31, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
