Information icon Hello, I'm FDW777. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Patrick Magee (Irish republican) seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. FDW777 (talk) 15:09, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you.

MOS:TERRORIST explains why your edit is incorrect. FDW777 (talk) 22:10, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Troubles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

In addition the topic area of the Troubles is subject to a one revert per 24 hours restriction (see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/The Troubles#Amendment (February 2019) for details), with certain exceptions which your edit does not meet. I suggest you make your case on Talk:Patrick Magee (Irish republican) for your edit, taking notice of the fact that Wikipedia articles are written from a neutral point of view not a British point of view. In addition regarding your rant, volunteer (as linked to on the article) suggests nothing like "helping set up seats for his local church's fund raising concert". It is the correct term for a member of the IRA, used by many academic sources, as the article linked to makes explicitly clear. FDW777 (talk) 15:51, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
