If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

Request reason:

I'm not a member of the band Moment Theory, i'm just a fan trying to help promote the band by creating Wikipedia page, my name is Craig and i'd like to change my user name to elput99

Decline reason:

You should carefully review the notability guidelines for bands. Ask yourself: Does this band meet those guidelines? Can you create an article about it that is cited to at least three reliable sources, like reviews of their importance in newspapers, magazines, or significant online sources? If you can create an article about the band which shows that it meets those guidelines, or if you come to an understanding that you can't and want to help write encyclopedia articles about notable bands, make another unblock request that makes it clear that you understand what the guidelines say and will be able to work within them when unblocked.— FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I understand what the guidelines say and will able to work within them when unblocked. I didn't finish putting all my sources when i got blocked. If i have i will change my username. I'm not in the band i'm just a fan, who likes the band.

I hate to doubt you, but the band you described didn't sound like one that meets the guideline. Which specific part of the notability criteria does it meet? What sources are you planning to add? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|maybe i'm not understanding what you mean by trivial and non trivial, i believe i listed atleast 4 sources that are from independent music sites about the band. But if those sites are considered trivial then i got nothing else to post. Can you just delete my Moment theory page and unblock me after this message so i can post on other sites?}}.

The formatting I see when I look at a deleted page is a little odd; I saw the list of external links but had missed the sources you referenced within the body of the article. There's merit to your position; admins try to avoid undoing one another's actions (it's considered Very Bad Manners among Wikipedia admins), but a message has been left for the admin who blocked you (a reasonable guy), asking if he'd consider an unblock. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:46, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of your personal association, Wikipedia's Username policy does not allow for usernames that significantly match a real-world organization, especially when such a username has been used in promoting that organization. Your name matches the name of a real band, by your own admission, and thus needs to be changed. Note: This is not a criticism of you as a person or of your potential to contribute to Wikipedia. I personally believe you have every reason to be a good editor. However, this username is a clear cut violation. Please copy and paste the following template to the bottom of the page with a new username request. If your requested name meets policy, you will be unblocked so you may change it. Use this template: {{unblock-un|NEWUSERNAMEHERE}}. Thanks— Jayron32.talk.contribs 22:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have spoken to the blocking admin, and he agrees that you deserve to be unblocked. But please follow the advice already given by arranging a username change. Happy wikying. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 18:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moment Theory → Cmoney[edit]

Please post the above request directly at the WP:CHU page, otherwise a Beurocrat will not see it, and it will not be acted upon. Thank you. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 22:01, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New page created[edit]

I've created a new page, User:Cmoney Allstar/Moment Theory, for you to use as a "sandbox" while crafting a new article about Moment Theory. Something like that should not be on your user page. Your userpage should be used to disclose information about you, the editor known as Cmoney Allstar. (See the userpages of any of the editors who've been trying to help you with this stuff: Anthony, myself, etc.) --Orange Mike | Talk 14:58, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
