GameSpot article dates

Regarding your January 1, 2022 edits to Game.com, where did you get the September 12, 1997 date from? Like most GameSpot articles from the 1990s, the article is now mis-dated as from 2000, and the body of the article doesn't mention any date. The only way I've been able to find the correct dates for older GameSpot articles is by using archive urls, and none of the available captures on archive.org go back to when the article was correctly dated. Knowing how you got the relevant date would be hugely helpful in averting reader confusion on Game.com (and could potentially be a useful resource for me in my future editing). Please let me know. I can help with that! So, the trick is clicking through on the author names and going to their "Profile" page, and further moving to their "Content" feeds; at which point, you'll find a full list of their contributions to the site with corrected post dates attached. The tedious part is having to potentially navigate dozens of pages of results looking for the article in question. (In the case of the Game.com announcement written by Chris Johnston, you have to go all the way to the 29th page of results to find the headline.) But at the end of the day, this is the only accurate way to gauge the proper vintages on GameStop articles post-site redesign [in cases where they're not also archived through Wayback Machine].

I hope this explanation helps, and that I didn't cause too much initial confusion with the way I cited the article date on the Game.com page! Well, dang. I'm not really concerned with you explaining the process in the edit summary, but I am concerned with the general reader not being able to see that info. It's confusing at best when you check a source tagged to a September 12, 1997 date and the only date visible in the source is April 26, 2000; someone unfamiliar with the Game.com's basic history might even think the date was vandalized. I've tried out an edit to the citation which I hope will make it clearer to readers. If you have a minute, take a look at it and let me know if it looks okay, or have a go at it yourself if you have a better idea.
